(Might I also recommend the books by Shad Helmstetter, What to Say When you Talk To Yourself and also Self – Talk Solution. There’s another book by Robert Anthony as well called, Beyond Positive Thinking: A No-Nonsense Formula for Getting the Results You Want. Excellent read – (although I do think some of the things he says are a little off, but, that’s just me).

Anyways, here’s the deal:

Music, songs, lyrics are powerful.  There is a wise saying that goes, “The power of life and death are in the tongue.”  I agree completely with that.  And I know that if those words are true, then these words that I am saying right now must be true – “The power to create the kind of life you want is in your tongue – even in the words of a song”.  (Ooooweee, that rhymes).

The words in music can be a definite form of self-talk.  And since the words create a visual picture and since the melody itself inspires emotion and since it rings in your head repetitively even after the song is finished playing…

A SONG IS ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL AFFIRMATIONS THERE IS.

A song can be powerful in a negative way and a positive way.

Let me talk about the negative side first (ugh).  I don’t know how old you are or if you remember that song Cop Killer. Well, shortly after that song came out, it was reported all over the news that a guy killed a cop after listening to it.  Why?  Because, he was affirming the lyrics to himself.  So sad.  But this is a powerful example that the powers of life and death can be inside a song.

Now, let’s talk about the positive side.

How can the power of life be in a song?  I bet you already know, so don’t be acting all shy – you know what’s up!  Some of you are living here today because of a song.  That’s right…  I got four words for you and you’ll know what I’m talking about:

Let’s Get It On

Uh-huh, people all over the world were affirming to themselves and to each other the come-hither words of Marvin Gaye’s hit, Let’s Get It On.   They got it on and you – yes, perhaps even you came along as a result.  How does it feel to be a living testimony to the power of music?

Yes, the power to create life is in a song as well.  And don’t let me start talking about Unchained Melody… Good grief!

So, think about the potential impact the right kind of songs could have in your life.

Woooh! Unchained Melody is a BAAAAD MAMMA JAMMA.  …I’m sorry, I got stuck on that for a minute.  They did that song.  Hold up.  Give me a moment…

…Ok, I’m good now.

As I was saying, it’s one thing to battle with negative self talk day in and day out.  But it’s another thing entirely when you can’t get positive affirmations out of your head because it’s burned there in the form of a song… that keeps playing over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over… – even hearing echoes of it when you’re half awake in bed.   How about having that kind of self talk stuck in your head?

So, that’s what I’m doing.  I’m creating music with positive self-talk.  The lyrics are actually affirmations.  I intend to have musical affirmations about different types of subject matter in the future.  It’s mostly a hobby for me right now, so, don’t expect too much.  But I really do like doing this.  I could probably do this for a living.  Perhaps making customized detailed affirmation songs for people upon request.  I don’t know.

But, for now I’ll just keep giving away my art until something hits me.  I’m on another project anyway.

You’ll find also that many of the affirmations I have are in the form of rap.  Why rap?  Well, for one thing, I like a challenge.  Who hears of positive rap these days?  And just like network marketing – there’s nothing wrong with it.  It’s just that you may get better results depending on how you do it.

Another reason I chose rap is because it’s an easier transition from the spoken word.  It’s about the closest thing to talking.  So, it should be fairly easy for anyone to rap to them-self.  One doesn’t have to worry about hitting the right note.  All one has to do is focus on identifying with the words.

And the last reason is that I can’t sing.

But, don’t get me wrong.  I would like to get around to doing other types of music as well.  Seriously.

But I think rap is a good place for me to start for now.  I intend to have different varieties of rap as well.

I like to refer to rap as two basic varieties when it comes to the basic flow of it.  You got the ‘champagne’ variety because you can feel the fizz.  And you got that ‘uppity fine wine’ variety that you might not mind listening to at a jazz club.  Now, don’t get too excited.  My raps might suck.

But, here’s the up-side:  I’m sure you’ve had sucky songs stuck in your head before.  At least these songs have some positivity.  Hey, that’s all I got.  Moving on…

And when I do get to some singing parts on  my tracks (…coming soon), you’ll probably be able to sing those parts.  I tend to keep the notes in such a range that anyone can do it.  But feel free to do your own thing and have fun with it.  Hey, I might try some crazy stuff myself and post it on this site one day for you all to hear.

P.S.  I don’t know if you’ve ever thought of this, but wouldn’t it be great to have a Success Radio Station?  You know, a Station where success-minded people could tune in to get amped up or something.  A Station where every song refined their focus and effectiveness on a specific endeavor.  What if a study was done to where the lives of people would be analyzed after listening to the station so many minutes a day after a year?  What if there were several Stations that dealt with specific endeavors;  like increasing self-esteem, gaining muscle, losing weight, developing a sharper mind, mastering financial principles, developing an attitude of organization, appreciating your loved ones more, or even getting more specific than that?

flush cephalon: wealthy mentality.  Flush carries the idea of abundance, wealth, riches, affluence, etc.  Cephalon is another word for brain which kinda’ sort of rhymes with “Babylon”.

golden slaves: ancient terminology for it that is known today as greenbacks (those greenbacks that are invested wisely).

soldiers sent: You are the queen/king – the commander.  That especial 10% of your earnings is your soldiers.  They have been sent out by you oh Royalty – on a mission to reap great booty and spoil.

dream just like Don: I’d rather leave that interpretation to the discretion of the listener.  It could mean a number of things, depending on the listener.  I have my on thoughts, but I don’t want to mess it up for everybody else.  It’s really your song anyway.

let the burn refine:  Sometimes it’s really hard to be on a budget.  I mean really hard.  But it gives one the opportunity to develop the virtue of self-control – which is so important in the attainment of wealth.  Actually, one cannot have lasting wealth without knowing how to “control thy expenditures”.   Thus, though sticking to a budget will be hard at times, a person with a wealthy mindset (flush cephalon) will let the pain, the hurt, the burning inside refine their character.  They’ll let the burning cause them to develop appreciation (in my opinion appreciation is the foundation of wealth attainment), resourcefulness (which gives one powers of multiplication – crazy stuff!), self control, and a whole bunch of other good qualities.  Just as gold is purified and refined by way of heat, and just as tacky looking coal is turned to diamond by way of heat and pressure, the person ‘controlling thy expenditures’ is made better from the challenge of it.  That one becomes refined… and all rich-looking.

In this post, I have a song for you that affirms some time-tested wealth building principles.

There are actually 3 versions of the song.  The first one is the rough draft.

I thought of the words while chillin’ with some rich folk.  I’ll just leave it at that.
